  • There’s a problem about the concert: Simone the soloist has gone sick. Shula is trying to find a replacement. Meanwhile Neil gets a call from Jazzer; he needs to go out.
  • It’s all go at Brookfield; Ruth, David and Eddie are all tired – so are the cows! Now they are faced with two problem cases at once; time to call Alistair.
  • Rob bemoans the fact that he cannot see Helen tonight – nor tomorrow because he is going to Hampshire for his mother’s birthday. He will be back on Sunday evening.
  • Unfortunately Alistair is on another call and won’t be back for hours. Oooo, nooo! David has used his initiative and called Rob to borrow some of his vet students. What? Without asking Ruth first? She is not best pleased, in spite of it being a very sensible move in the best interests of the animals and the farm.
  • Neil finds Darrell asleep in the bus shelter from where he was hoping to catch Rosa in the morning. Neil persuades him to come home for a bite to eat. Susan is surprised to find Darrell eating in her kitchen and is rather less welcoming than Neil. As he sees Darrell out, Neil assures him that he can come any time.
  • Rob brings Steph, a student who had jumped at the chance of some hands-on experience, though ‘hands-in’ might be more accurate. The calf’s head was turned the wrong way but eventually Steph succeeds and a fine heifer is born. Ruth has the grace to admit that Rob had saved the night, Steph had done really well and gained valuable experience – a win-win situation all round. It’s been quite a night.
