Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Eddie complains about the price of pig feed to Joe, and happens to comment on the amazing vegetables grown by one of his compost customers, and the trophies he espied. When Eddie mentions that he had talked about Joe’s rivalry with Bert over the Flower and Produce Show, Joe is angry; he does not want his secrets revealed. Luckily Pat calls to ask Clarrie to do some extra hours, and both Joe and Eddie agree that they are pleased it was not to deliver more of her gooseberry jam.
  • An unusually cheerful Tony makes Johnny what he clearly thinks to be an amazing offer; manager of the vegetable section of their business. Unsurprisingly, Johnny fails to share Tony’s enthusiasm for the idea. he wants to leave college and see what the world has to offer him. He has talked to Alice and to a friend, both of whom enthused over the latest agri-technology. Johnny is determined to broaden his horizons. At first Tony tries to argue his case, but when Pat reminds him that at Johnny’s age, Tony too wanted to gain broad experience, Tony sees the point. But Johnny’s sharp eyes spotted what Tony failed to; a lame cow. Luckily it is just a stone in the hoof.
  • At Honeysuckle Cottage, sulks are in the air. Ian barely speaks to Adam, but finally admits he is worried about Oliver’s plans for Grey Gables. The problem is more than uncertainty about his job, though; Adam has made it clear that now is not the time to be thinking about a child, and Ian does not share his opinion. Instead, they will just decide the discussion never happened, and will never mention children again.
