Adam has worrying news. Ian has wonderful news

Radio Times: Adam is furious and Lexi faces some difficult choices

Characters: , , , , ,
  • As Nolly packs for her return to South Africa, she tells Freddie that she will really miss him. She wants him to Skype her regularly. He still feels bad about the drug incident. Nolly wisely omits telling him that she has told Peggy what happened, but tells Freddie he must stop dealing. Will Freddie come and visit her? He is somewhat non-committal.
  • Lexi has a meeting with Adam and Ian to discuss the terms of her surrogacy. Adam has it all mapped out, but Ian and Lexi, sounding like hyperactive teenagers can only enthuse wildly about the whole idea. The meeting is interrupted by a knock on the door; Justin needs to speak urgently to Adam. Adam manages to deflect Justin, agreeing to see him later, and finally the trio do manage to discuss and agree on possibilities and eventualities.
  • Justin’s visit turns out to be more than a social call. The contamination problem is far more serious than it first seemed. Furious with Brian, and having checked the site for himself, Adam storms off to Home Farm, where he finds not Brian but Jennifer, in full airhead mode, telling ‘Darling’ that everything is fine, there is no problem, the insurers will sort everything out and Home Farm will continue to be the fluffy pink paradise it always has been. Adam stops her in full flow. Work on the site has had to be halted, which will add greatly to the cost, because some unmarked drums have been found, and specialist handlers must be brought in to deal with them. Added to that, an industrial de-greaser has been identified. It can be ingested through contaminated drinking water, causing damage to the liver, kidneys, and central nervous system. They have also found Dieldrin and other organo-chlorines… the situation could not be more serious.
  • But at least one Ambridge resident is happy. Ian gets a call from the clinic – they have found a donor egg for him. Shades of Helen’s amazing cancellation when Henry was produced.
