Adam helps Charlie and Tony seems a bit better.

Radio Times: Charlie needs a bit of help, and Helen is feeling the pinch.

Characters: , , , ,
  • Charlie asks Adam to stop his work and come clear a landslide before Justin Elliott returns. Adam points out the irony of calling on him for help when he lost the arable contract but Adam kindly relents.
  • Pat and Helen are at Jennifer’s for lunch and they discuss the relative improvements in Tony’s condition. Jennifer invites them for Christmas but Pat will be with Tony and Helen wants to spend her first Christmas with Rob with just the three of them. Pat notes that Tom would appreciate the invitation.
  • As Pat and Helen leave, Adam comes in. He informs Jennifer that he and Ian will go away somewhere hot in the new year to celebrate their anniversary properly. The Tregorran windfall will come in handy to fund this getaway.
  • Pat and Helen visit the Birmingham Christmas market. Pat spies a train set that Henry would love but Helen objects to the price. Since she isn’t working, money is tight. Pat insists on buying it for Henry and she gives Helen £50 to help with holiday expenses. Since Helen has supported Pat in this terrible time, Pat wants to return the favour.
  • Charlie interrupts Adam’s rescue work with coffee and sandwiches. They have another disagreement over farming methods. Charlie urges Adam to focus on niche farming but to think bigger. Adam is irritated and stands to leave as Charlie asks if he is coming to the staff Christmas do next week. Adam is doubtful.
