Alan finds some allies in a good cause. Jennifer looks for allies in a good cause.
Radio Times: Alan braves the elements.
Characters: Adam, Alan, Brian, Jennifer, Peggy, Ted- Jennifer regales Brian with Ruth’s account of matters at Brookfield. Unsurprisingly Brian sides with David in his confrontational attitude to Pip’s new boyfriend. Jennifer agrees with Ruth that any direct approach would be the worst thing. They recall their own situation with Kate and the travellers, but agree it all came right eventually.
- Jennifer takes Peggy to see Jack. They meet Ted, whose wife is a resident, and he talks happily about his outside interests. But when Jennifer suggests that Peggy might find more to do, she meets with a swift rebuttal. For the time being Peggy’s life is Jack and nothing else.
- Alan calls at Home Farm to ask Brian for sponsorship in his Lenten camping venture in aid of refugees and the homeless. Brian is pleased to do stump up, and offers to take Alan up to the poly-tunnels to talk to Adam. Alan is impressed by what he sees, and very interested in Adam’s view of world farming and its link to the refugee situation. He’s delighted when Adam also agrees to sponsor him, and overwhelmed when Brian says he’ll take the idea to Borchester Land.
- Because Peggy won’t come back with Jennifer for lunch, Jennifer sees the need to make Peggy consider herself more. She’ll ask Jill and Chris to take her out for the day. They’re the same generation, and maybe a day out will give Peggy a new perspective.
