• David tells Alistair what he’s discovered about a local builder’s possible involvement in the poisoning of the cows. He then asks whether Alistair would b prepared to come back as Brookfield’s herd vet. He admits they were wrong to go along with some of Sam’s decisions. Alistair accepts graciously and family relationships are fully restored.
• Alan comes across a major row between Alice and Amy, over Alice’s plans to join the RAF. He tells Usha about it, and when Alice turns up for supper, she and Usha discover they have a lot in common where intervention in unjust regimes is concerned. Alice apologises to Alan for the row, and says it hasn’t changed her mind – she’s still going to apply for RAF sponsorship.
