Anna seems to be healing from her divorce and she has a real breakthrough with Helen on her testimony. Joe and Eddie worry about future accommodation.
Radio Times: Helen tries her best, and Eddie is on a hiding to nothing.
Characters: Anna, Carol, Eddie, Helen, Joe, Pat, Tony- Anna calls Tony to let them know that she is going in to see Helen this morning. She is going to give it one last try to see if she can coax Helen into revealing more in her testimony. Pat worries about all the details and wants Tony to read between the lines. Tony offers the feeling that when he spoke to Helen last night, she had a bit of her old spark again. He felt a difference in her. Pat is reluctant to believe this but Tony thinks that seeing Kaz again has done her a world of good.
- Anna offers Carol a little peace offering, a bottle of burgundy from a good year. Anna also offers a sincere apology and she attests Max is put behind her and she is starting anew. Carol shows Anna a ticket for a holiday for two in the Austrian Alps; it even has a Sound of Music tour attached. Carol and Anna will go together and they go after the trial. After a mild protest, Anna laughingly agrees that it is a good idea but she must leave now for her meeting with Helen.
- Joe and Eddie talk about the water source of the leak. Ed and Emma have given up looking for affordable accommodation. George is starting school at Borchester Green and he is excited so the family can’t move away now. Joe grumbles about staying at #1 The Green near the Horrobins but Eddie is worried that William may not allow them to move in. Last time they met up, William threatened to turn Eddie over to the police for poaching. He is now avoiding his dad but Eddie is off to William’s house. Nic tells Eddie that William isn’t home but Eddie doesn’t think that is true. Joe says maybe the Sterlings will let them stay at Grange Farm-just a few months until Joe dies.
- Anna tells Helen that she is making a bad character appeal to the court. This means Rob’s behaviour in the past can be laid out as evidence. His forbidding Helen to drive, controlling her life, overly strict rules for Henry and the slap-these will all contribute to the larger picture. But Anna wants to know if there is anything that Helen has left out, anything at all will help. Helen says that she wants to do this but she can’t think of anything else.
- Helen remembers that Rob seemed to be interfering with her phone since he always knew of her plans but she can’t think of an example; he was too clever to be found out. Anna recaps what they have so far. There is something else, Helen remembers. Rob told Helen that the only way she could leave him was to kill herself. He put the knife in her hand and said to kill herself like Greg. Anna probes for more; no matter how dark or painful, now is the time to tell.
- Tony spoke to Anna and has good news. Helen is really trying to cooperate and open up. Pat is worried but Anna feels that Helen is holding something back, something very important. With voice rising, Pat cries that the trial starts on Monday and it may be too late to obtain anything new.
