Radio Times: Betty makes an offer and Jennifer does not refuse

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Betty’s done a sterling job for the dinner party and while Mike started as a sceptic, the evening went fairly well. Socially, at least. Practically, smalltalk didn’t really develop into the important business of their children’s (and grandchild’s) futures.
  • The cracking of a new bottle of whisky helped and they all seem to realise that the only way forward is Kate to compromise. The suggestion is mediation through a trusted third party, Hayley’s not got Kate’s trust nor would she be likely to listen to her grandmother, but Debbie is a reasonable bet. At this point, though, disaster, as Roy returned home and wasn’t best pleased to find everyone discussing his future. He storms out, forcefully point out that talking among the four of them won’t help anything or anyone if Kate doesn’t start listening.
  • Ruth pays Usha a surprise visit – bearing gifts of a takeaway. Usha’s glad of the interruption to her revision and they have a good chat. It does seem though, from the state that Ruth found the kitchen in, that Usha’s not dealing particularly well, at least domestically, with her return to the single lifestyle.
