Brian confides in Justin on the plans he thinks will secure the future of the farm but we aren’t given any hint of what those plans are.
Radio Times: Brian hatches a plan and Jazzer finds a captive audience
Characters: Adam, Brian, Jazzer, Justin, Kate, Neil- Kate is trying to distract Adam from his role on the interview panel at Berrow Farm. She tells him she’s said a blessing for him and Ian about their new life and she has lots of new ideas. Adam decides it is time to leave.
- Justin explains to Neil that he has asked for Adam on the panel because of the links to the BL land. Neil is surprised that he didn’t ask Brian but Justin says he is taking a back seat. Justin is a bit surprised that Neil added Jazzer to the list but Neil thinks it would cause comment if they didn’t. Then Jazzer arrives – in his Bridge Farm overalls. Jazzer tries to explain that he is interested in the job because it would be warmer and with no frozen drinkers. Jazzer actually does better on the technical questions though less well on the team management questions from Justin though he makes a decent fist of saying he wanted to expand his career.
- Later in the interview Justin is impressed with a woman who has had managerial experience who claims she wants to go back to working hands on. Justin is clear he doesn’t want Jazzer to be involved. Neil isn’t happy but Adam at least suggests that he should tell Jazzer to brush up his interview technique. Suggesting whisky and women as your greatest weakness isn’t the best plan.
- Brian is horrified to hear that Martin Gibson has got the chair of BL. He knows that Justin is only playing golf with him because Lilian and Jennifer have said he must be distracted. Brian says he has financial concerns and Justin says he is happy to be a sounding board.
- Adam and Kate look at the yurts. Kate has done a good job but bookings are still down. Kate reminds Adam that she is behind his eco plans but has some more. Kate says she has good ideas. They must get rid of the livestock. It is more in tune with the zeitgeist. More people are turning vegan. But Adam sees that as a step to far. Kate asks what is the point of him taking charge if he is just going to be just like Brian.
- Brian exposes his plan for the farm to Justin who thinks it is very courageous. Brian swears him to secrecy, even from Lilian but we aren’t given a hint of what his plans actually are.
