Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Brian isn’t getting very far with chatting up the board. If he can’t get Martin and Jerry on side and can’t convince Annabelle, he is lost. Jennifer is convinced Justin will be on his side but Brian doesn’t think he will after he betrayed him to Adam. Peggy doesn’t believe Justin could be against him. Surely he wouldn’t be so underhand. If Brian won’t speak to Justin, someone will have to.
  • Brian finally gets 10 minutes with Annabelle. He tells her about their history and long memories. They’ve been through difficult times. But Annabelle says bad publicity sticks. He tries to persuade her that he is still a better chair than Martin would be. Then Brian thinks that Annabelle is after the chairmanship. But she insists her vote will be entirely on what is best for the business.
  • Peggy, Christine and Jill squabble about why they are having tea at Grey Gables. They worry about Pip and Jill says she’ll help. Peggy and Christine point out that they can’t expect her to be the nanny. She’s changed enough nappies. The three of them choose their pancakes and Christine can’t be persuaded to have more than the plain lemon and sugar.
  • Annabelle phones Justin to say Brian isn’t going without a fight. The Jennifer turns up in person. She says that if they vote against him then he will be seen as guilty – and that wouldn’t be good for BL. Jennifer points out that he knows Brian wouldn’t have dumped the waste and how will it be for Lilian if they end up with a family split. Justin says he’ll take it into account.
  • There is a fight over the bill at Grey Gables. Peggy tries to insist on paying but Christine wins. Jill points out to Peggy that Christine is hardly in penury. If Christine says she can pay she can pay. Peggy musn’t patronise her.
  • Justin tries to be friendly to Brian but Brian now insists this is all because Justin wants the chair. Has he no idea of what loyalty means. Justin insists he is not interested in the chair so now Brian will just have to wait till Friday to see how he stands.
