  • There’s a crucial Board meeting today and Brian can think of nothing else. When he gets to the meeting he finds that Justin has asked Annabelle to chair it. BL, Justin maintains, has not been exploiting its assets sufficiently, the Market for example. Brian points out that the new dairy has absorbed a lot of effort but that only opens up another line of criticism: having paid for the connection to the grid, why are they not importing waste for the digester and where are the wind turbines? BL has started good projects but not built on the successes. It’s because BL has been under-performing that it was a sitting duck for his bid. Justin, as the major shareholder will have a seat on the Board but BL is too small for him to devote enough time to be Chairman. Annabelle is elected but Justin has good words for Brian and encourages him to stay on the Board.
  • Elsewhere in Ambridge, Chris has surprisingly taken up Will’s invitation to accompany him on a squirrel expedition, to dispatch any of the little b******* that have wandered into his traps. Even more unlikely, Chris yields under Will’s pressure to take on the role of Jesus in the Passion play.
  • Back home, Brian needs a stiff drink after one of the worst mornings of his life. It’s all down to Jennifer revealing that he is 70. As she points out, he is 70 and it wouldn’t hurt to slow down. He will stick at it; BL needs a farmer on the Board. There are interesting times ahead for Ambridge; if people thought BL was a difficult neighbour before, they ain’t seen nothing yet!
