  • Brian’s ultimatum over the future of Home Farm arable production is losing Adam sleep. Ian tries to make him see the situation more realistically, but in vain. Adam flounces off to Home Farm.
  • The Grundy freezer is full of wild boar meat, to Clarrie’s annoyance. She thinks they should bury the meat before it infects someone. Eddie sees it as a new business venture, and intends asking Maurice’s advice about making burgers and sausages. Clarrie is appalled. Surely Eddie has learnt something since the saga of the condemned meat. Joe wonders about offering a free boar burger to cider club members. No, says Clarrie. Just take it out of my freezer and bury it.
  • Brian demands to know whether Adam has come to a decision. Truculently, Adam refuses to give him an answer. Brian is aware that the next BL meeting will be make or break for him; he just has to know whether Adam is on side. Adam says he will let Brian know when he is ready to do so.
  • Jenny has a go at Brian for nagging Adam. She is tired of hearing about the BL board; what about their family? Brian is not persuaded. If Adam refuses to do what Brian wants, they will just have to employ a new, keen arable manager.
  • Ian overhears Adam on the phone to Brian. Brian is insisting on a final answer by Friday. As far as Adam is concerned it is negotiation by ultimatum, but he intends to take his time, and Brian will just have to deal with it.
