Brian still finds it hard to come to terms with the idea of retirement.

Radio Times: The day of the Lower Loxley village fete arrives.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • The day of the fete arrives. Dan is home for it and Lily is very impressed. Kirsty is a surprise visitor with Gareth. Shula and Elizabeth are very impressed with her choice. Meanwhile Lynda is dressed as a milkmaid and Robert as a molecatcher. Maurice turns up as the Black Death. Shula and Elizabeth discuss Jill. She’s obviously worried about how much David is having to do.
  • Adam and Debbie have also visited the fete. Debbie is so pleased that she has not had to travel around with Brian and Jennifer. Brian is being so negative about everything. Adam is still surprised about taking over the arable. He is looking forward to being able to integrate the whole system but if Brian continues to criticise everything it will be impossible.
  • Brian takes his temper out on the crockery smashing stall. He continues to sulk all afternoon and wants to leave. Jennifer tells him not to be so ridiculous, just because Debbie mentioned retirement. Brian thinks he should take over the arable himself but Jennifer tells him time moves on and he has to accept the position. He is sick of being compared to Tony. The farm has been his life. If he’s not running that anymore, what on earth is he for?
  • Charlie turns up and Adam tries to get away but Debbie is keen to stay and chat although she still has a dig at Charlie over his sacking of her.
  • Kirsty and Tom meet and have a rather strained conversation. When he tells her that Rob and Helen are getting married, Kirsty can’t resist a dig. She then invites Tom to join her and Gareth in the tea tent. Tom somehow manages to say no.
