- Fallon buys a posh picnic, but Ed’s not impressed. He thinks it’s too cold and anyway, he’d prefer something from the village shop. Fallon’s back in shoulder-to-cry-on mode.
- Emma’s lunch date goes well until Susan arrives, with George. Calum tells Emma he can’t handle it; she has a big problem with the truth. He tells her it’s over between them and walks out, leaving a howling George and a furious Emma.
- No matter how hard Fallon tries, all Ed can think of is how much he loved Emma. He tells Fallon that he can always talk to her – she never lets him down. It seems that’s the best Fallon can hope for.
- Emma lets Susan have the full force of her anger. Susan tries to point out that Emma isn’t free, no matter how much she’d like to be. It’s too late – Emma has to face up to her responsibilities. Emma slams out, leaving Susan to the fragments of her birthday.
