Caroline sees the light and adopts a positive attitude.

Radio Times: It is party night for Susan, and Oliver needs a diversion.

Characters: , , , , , , , ,
  • It’s an uphill struggle to take Caroline’s mind off her troubles but Oliver is still trying – and getting some sharp responses. There is nothing more they can do until others make their decisions, apart from staying positive. She grudgingly agrees to a ride.
  • Meanwhile one of their troubles, Joe, is yielding to pressure from Eddie to reject the offer of £1500 apparently just on the grounds that he is worth a damn sight more.
  • It’s party time for Susan. The Bull Upstairs is decorated, the playlist drawn up and Susan is heading for a day’s pampering at Grey Gables. Neil has an extra present to give her later, which Alice pronounces as perfect.
  • Among the many party guests is Gregory, not seen since school days, when he admits to carrying a torch for Susan. Neil struggles to find a moment to deliver his present, a gold locket, but he gets there in the end and it hits the spot.
  • Caroline has to admit that the ride was just what the doctor ordered and she might even join Oliver later in the week to take some of the hounds out. However an email from Ian about Christmas cancellations threatens to undo the good work. She will hold a staff meeting tomorrow to address Ian’s concerns. It’s time to concentrate on the things under her control and get Grey Gables back on course.
