  • It looks as though Jill’s lunch date in Penny Hassett will have to be cancelled. Shula is supposed to be driving her there, but has been delayed, taking Darrell to sign on (yet again). Gallant Jim hears of Jill’s plight and offers his services. He joins the lunch party and, despite hearing a blow-by-blow of someone’s holiday in Rome, and the fact that it is a church event, enjoys the occasion greatly.
  • The day for a decision about the deputy manager appointment at Grey Gables has arrived, and as ever an Ambridgeite gets the job; despite Anton being a promising candidate, Caroline plays safe and appoints the cheerless Kathy.
  • Having sorted all Grey Gables’ troubles, Kathy tries to sort out the Grundy boys. She tells Will how upset Ed is over the shooting, but Will is in no mood to listen. She begs him to think what all this is doing to George and Clarrie, but Will tells her pointedly it is none of her business.
  • Joe is delighted when Ed brings George over to help with Bartleby. Joe does his best to make Ed see what the feud is doing to the family, and eventually Ed agrees to help with the turkeys as long as Will is not there. But after Ed leaves to take George home, Joe gets a phone call. It’s Will, who has reconsidered, and will come and help with the turkeys after all.
