Radio Times: Helen has to hide. Meanwhile, Jill is in no hurry.

Characters: , , , ,
  • In an attempt to cheer Helen, Kirsty suggests taking her anger over Rob out on some cardboard boxes. At least it raises a laugh from Helen, until Kirsty spots Jess heading for the shop. Helen is forced to hide in the store room while Kirsty makes bright conversation.
  • Ruth has taken Jill to the optician, and Jill claims that the new glasses she has chosen will make all the difference to her sight. They chat about Shula’s worries over Dan’s departure, though Ruth will not accept that this is down to Darrell’s presence. Ruth needs to get back to the farm, but Jill wants to go to Ambridge Organics first.
  • As Jess chats to Kirsty her phone rings; she has been offered a job in Children’s Services at Felpersham, so must ring Rob with the good news. Perhaps fortuitously, Ruth and Jill have arrived, which makes conversation somewhat easier for Kirsty, who is concerned about Helen trapped in the store room.
  • Rob tells Jess how proud he is of her; she has made huge sacrifices for him, and now they can plan their life together. Jess wants to bring their stored furniture to Ambridge, but Rob quickly suggests looking for a house further afield. After all, Felpersham is quite a way away. Jess is surprised and somewhat taken aback; she is getting to know people in Ambridge, and surely Rob needs to be near his work? Rob claims that he needs to get away from Brian and his job. Somewhere the other side of Darrington would suit them nicely. They can find a gorgeous house with a beautiful garden. Rather weakly, Jess agrees.
  • Ruth takes Jill home, and offers to drive her to the doctors to discuss her cataracts. Jill claims she is far too busy, so will go in the new year. Ruth tries to make Jill see that she needs to go now, but Jill stands firm. With her new glasses she will be fine.
  • As the customers leave, Kirsty finds a very quiet Helen. She has overheard everything Jess had to say, and admits that Jess is nice and should not have her life ruined. Helen has to accept that it is all over between her and Rob.
