  • Following the spectacular success of Ambridge’s May Day celebrations, reality now strikes home with the discovery of a major crime: the theft of Fallon’s home-made bunting. Harrison suggests involving SOCA and the DNA team.
  • Ed calls at the Estate office to tell Charlie that the Fairbrothers are interested in taking on the tenancy of his 50 acres. Charlie greets the suggestion with measured enthusiasm, but warns Ed that if it were to happen he might have to pay the estate for ending the tenancy early, and Charlie is not able to guarantee that Ed can have the contract for hedging work.
  • Ed tells his parents about the meeting with Charlie. Eddie thinks it all sounds promising, but Clarrie’s low spirits affect her response. She tells Ed that expensive honeymoons do not make a marriage, as Emma must know; a simple village wedding is far nicer. Somehow neither Ed nor Clarrie sounds convinced.
  • Eddie asks Ed to help him take Jethro’s sideboard to the tip, and wonders if Ed would prefer someone his own age as Best Man. Ed rejects that idea, so Eddie will arrange the Stag night – but Ed insists it must be simple and local. Meanwhile he has engaged Toby Fairbrother to roll fleeces for him when he goes shearing.
  • The Bull is quiet when Charlie comes in, apparently to celebrate having his plaster off, but in fact looking for company in the shape of Adam. Harrison asks him about the bunting, and is taken aback by Charlie’s stout rebuttal of involvement; he was out of Ambridge all weekend and has witnesses to prove it. Clearly modelling herself on Helen, Fallon kisses the PC and tells him he is so sweet.
