Charlie’s bombshell gives him food for thought.
Radio Times: A case of let there be Christmas Light as Charlie could use some advice.
Characters: Adam, Charlie, David, Kenton, Matthew, Pip, Toby- David seeks Matthew’s opinion on the dairy operation at Brookfield as yields are currently down. Matthew is sure that with Pip’s expertise, they will soon have the farm flying again. Pip invites him to The Bull’s reopening.
- At the switch on ceremony, Adam finds Toby leafleting regarding the touch rugby game. David and Matthew turn up. Adam invites them to Sunday lunch at home farm. Adam has news regarding the Titcheners. Helen seems preoccupied, but Rob is full of himself. Kenton’s celebrity guest turns up … Ho, Ho, Ho. With several reindeers!
- Adam tells Kenton The Bull looks good; he replies that without Jolene, he would not have survived. Kenton offers Adam and Ian a stag night. Adam accepts if Ian’s OK with it. Charlie and David arrive; Charlie takes Adam off for a private word. David takes the opportunity to call Ruth but has to leave a rather plaintive recorded message, ending with a faint “I love you.”
- Over a drink, Matthew and Pip discuss Brookfield. Toby arrives and offers Pip a drink. He cuts across their conversation, taking pleasure in goading Matthew about the upcoming touch rugby match not being his sport, more likely football. Pip has none of it and brushes him off saying that she and Matthew are talking business. Nicely done Pip.
- Charlie has spoken to Justin. He’s being stood down from Berrow Farm and has been offered redeployment within the Demara group, starting after Christmas. It’s not a demotion but it’s a long way off, in Perthshire. He’s still stunned. Should he resign and find work locally or accept the offer? Adam just doesn’t know what to say.
