Clarrie won’t accept Alice’s apology. Brian suggests if her job is so bad there might be a job for her on the farm.
Radio Times: Alistair fails to make sense of recent events
Characters: Alice, Alistair, Brian, Chris, Fallon, Harrison, Shula- Harrison and Fallon are still being competitive, both sneaking into the gym. Harrison still claims Fallon is cheating but he will win anyway. They talk about Alice’s behaviour. She really went too far this time.
- Alice is feeling guilty but can’t bring herself to apologise. Chris says she must realise that he won’t go with her.
- Alistair is trying to get Shula to talk – about anything. It would be better than silence. Jim has decided he does need a real piano after all so he an Jazzer are going to convert the spare room into a music room. He suggests supper together but she isn’t interested. Later in the evening, Alistair appears and Shula instantly says she is going to bed. Alistair gets cross that she won’t even talk. Why won’t she even try to save their marriage? Shula says it doesn’t matter what he says or does, nothing is going to change her mind. He just has to accept it is over.
- Harrison is making the cricket team do a 5 mile run – just for training of course. Brian bumps into Chris half way round and he wonders if Alice has apologised. Alice did try but Clarrie slammed the door in her face. Alice thinks they should be more understanding and move on. Chris tells her she really doesn’t understand. She claims she wasn’t drunk and that he has been encouraging her to drink. She can’t win. He tells her she must set herself a limit on these occasions. There is no way that is going to happen again.
- Despite the run, Fallon is still a couple of thousand steps ahead of Harrison but he still has two days to catch up.
- Alice tries to get some sympathy from Brian since Jennifer is furious with her for “ruining the family name”. Brian isn’t really on her side. It was embarrassing and it was her comment that they needed all the good publicity they can get. Alice admits part of the drinking was the stress she is under at work. Brian suggests she looks for another job but Alice says there aren’t any. Brian suggests that after the contamination is over, maybe there will be something for her on the farm.
