David finally breaks and tears up the tree house in a fury.

Characters: Clarrie, David, Eddie, Jill, Phil, Ruth

• Eddie is practising his French for the Paris trip – he’s worried he won’t get any food if he can’t order it in French – especially toad in the hole. Clarrie is insisting he asks for Everything in French – which rather takes Jill aback. She might be getting the hang of the wickedness though – she even finds herself snapping at Phil! Must be a good sign!
• David seems to be making a bit more of an effort and trying to talk. Then Josh rushes in to say Ben has fallen off the tree house ladder. And that makes David even more furious when the kids don’t seem to listen to him. The kids want him to fix the tree house so he decides he will – once and for all! And he does. By smashing it up. Jill turns up to see what is happening.
• Clarrie still can’t get over what everyone has done for them. The best anniversary ever!
• Jill takes the boys away – Josh is very upset. Why did David do that, he only needed to take the ladder away, not smash it up. Pip wouldn’t come out of her room. The atmosphere there is awful. David had really lost it. Whatever is wrong between David and Ruth, it must be something very bad.
