David’s tormentors strike again, mercifully without anyone being hurt.

Radio Times: Open Farm Sunday goes with a bang, while Neil cannot contain his curiosity.

  • It’s Fathers’ Day so David is being spoilt. Pip has some ideas for the day’s big event and David is careful to stress that she should brief the stewards to be on the lookout for anyone straying outside the designated areas. They won’t be told why.
  • Emma is a bit anxious about George going to Open Farm Sunday in the light of the threats to David. She has plans to take her dad out for lunch – money no object as she got a lot of tips at a wedding yesterday – since he won’t be playing boring old cricket. Where would he like to go? He thinks Paxley would be nice.
  • David’s talk is punctuated by a loud bang. Shortly afterwards pandemonium ensues: the bullocks are out and heading this way. So everyone is moved out of the way; there is a moment’s panic when George seems about to be trampled to death but Ed grabs him in the nick of time.
  • David does his best to calm the assembled throng with effusive apologies, though the bullocks still look jumpy. Most of the visitors soon leave, some muttering darkly about lawyers. How the hell did those bullocks get out?
  • Wandering round Paxley after lunch, Neil and Emma happen upon the cricket ground where – would you believe – Ambridge are playing away. Emma gets the message: he would quite like to watch the match.
  • David and Pip investigate and find that a fence has been deliberately sabotaged; the bang sent the bullocks stampeding through the gap. Touch nothing; it’s time to call the police.
