  • Kenton and Jolene are finding it impossible to make end meets. They are close to their overdraft limit and bills are still coming in. Lynda appears, to demand if they know the whereabouts of the Maypole. May Day without a pole is unthinkable. Kenton isn’t very interested but Jolene points out it is a money making opportunity which makes him a bit more enthusiastic.
  • David asks Ed about his speech at the wedding. Ed says it will rather have to be the edited highlights. He is also a bit puzzled about where some of the rubbish from the drains has gone. He went to haul it away and it had already gone. Maybe the Council picked it up.
  • The bank won’t extend Jolene and Kenton’s overdraft so they are going to have to put the bill on the credit cards. Kenton despairs but Jolene says they simply have to keep going.
  • Fallon isn’t impressed at being landed with the tea tent on May Day but Jolene persuades her she can do it. She also asks if Kenton is okay. Jolene says yes, it is just taking them some time to get back on their feet.
  • Ed gets his suit ready for the wedding and Eddie thinks it is perfect. Eddie suggests to Ed that it might be worth contacting Rex Fairbrother to take over the land he is renting from the estate. It wouldn’t make any difference to the estate and that would then mean Charlie would have to pay him for cutting the hedges. There is no harm in checking it out anyway.
  • Lynda reappears in The Bull with the news that the Maypole has been found! Brown Owl had taken it into care. It needs a bit of sanding and painting and Lynda bullies Fallon into agreeing to help. She also says that David has suggested a collection for the Save Campaign after the Morris dancing. Kenton has another whine about David but Lynda firmly says she is glad David is staying. Meanwhile Fallon is being very cagey about her new recruit for her business.
