Ed tries counselling. Brian tries confession.
Radio Times: David becomes the confidant.
Characters: Brian, David, Ed, Jazzer, Mike, Oliver, Ruth- Oliver brings Ed back from his visit to the counselling service, but gets very little out of him. It does appear that the counsellor got Ed to identify the root cause of his problems, though; living in Ambridge where he’ll see Emma and George. Ed can’t see any way of coping with that. Oliver suggests coming to Grange Farm to take his mind off his problems, but Ed won’t even consider it.
- Brian tells David all about Siobhán and Ruaridh, to David’s dismay. He tries to make Brian see that he must tell Jennifer, but Brian insists there’s no need. When David later unburdens to Ruth, she’s cynical; of course there’s something going on between Brian and Siobhán, she says.
- Mike, with a very little help from Jazzer, has done the morning’s bottling. Jazzer’s surprised to hear that Ed’s gone to the counsellor, but says it’s just to keep Clarrie quiet. Jazzer disappears before Oliver can invite him to share a bottle of Champagne to celebrate their first week’s production, so Mike and Oliver prepare to enjoy it by themselves. But their plans are thwarted when Jazzer re-appears with Ed in tow. Somewhat reluctantly, Ed agrees to look round the farm.
