Eddie faces six weeks of abstinence. Brian faces a visit to Siobhán.
Radio Times: Brian finds Debbie Hungary for a change.
Characters: Brian, Clarrie, Debbie, Eddie, Helen, Ian- Oh dear! It’s the morning after for Eddie; a fry-up seems strangely unattractive. Clarrie is really proud of Eddie giving up alcohol for Lent. He was hoping it was just a bad dream, especially when he is reminded that Lent lasts 40 days.
- In Hungary, Debbie proudly shows off the new milking parlour to Brian. Brian reports that the consortium is really pleased with her.
- Ian is impressed with Borchester Blue and assures Helen that it is destined for the Grey Gables menu. Tom is on his driving course today but how is Helen? Helen has a heart to heart with Ian and explains what her counsellor has asked her to do. Ian is happy to talk any time.
- Clarrie returns home to find Eddie scouring the fridge; she explains that she had moved the lager that was in there to a safe place – to remove temptation. His family are determined to support him. Very thoughtful!
- Debbie explains the cropping plans and is horrified to hear that, back home, Adam is lobbying for a big new combine; this is a topic on which the siblings are not going to agree.
- Brian phones Siobhán and is keen to meet tomorrow evening as soon as he lands. She will have none of it; Friday morning it is. How thoughtful of Brian: after a long day driving, he doesn’t want Debbie to waste time at the airport – she need only drop him off. (What a shame! She will not witness his true destination.)
