Radio Times: Eddie is not selected.
Characters: Alistair, Bert, David, Eddie, George, Greg- Alistair’s up at Brookfield to look at a cow and is trying to convince David to have a pint this evening to discuss why David shouldn’t defect to Darrington Cricket Club. Bert’s got a raft of reasons why the clubs shouldn’t merge, too.
- George double checks that Bert is available to Bert for him next month (he is) only many of the regulars are taking Greg’s slightly higher fee instead.
- Greg visits George to try and underline that it’s not personal (George sees that), it’s about making his shoot the best. He mentions that Eddie’s visited him offer himself and George is amused at that, questioning Eddie’s team-playing abilities. Later, Greg tells Eddie that Home Farm has its full complement of beaters. Eddie’s sure that George will coming begging eventually …..
- Alistair and David are in the bar discussing the cricket, only it quickly move off that subject and onto why David and Ruth were having “full and frank exchange of views” when Alistair had been in earshot earlier. David’s promised Ruth he’ll stay out of it, but he mentions Usha and Shula’s explosive meeting on Friday. Alistair quickly jumps to Shula’s defence, pointing out the hypocrisy of saying that Usha and Richard had been happy and that blaming misery on a third party was a little rich. He gets distinctly wound up and an uninvolved David enquires as to this and, yes, Alistair still cares and wishes things were different.
