  • It’s the morning after the night before for Elizabeth. She feels weird. That’s not caused by last night’s shenanigans with Roy, as another kiss confirms, but just by an excess of cider. A little later, revived by coffee and water, she feels almost human. Roy takes a call from Hayley, checking that he is still alive; Abbie gives away their secret – they are making cupcakes for daddy’s return. Roy has a secret too but he keeps that one to himself.
  • Shula and Alistair are visiting Sandhurst to see Dan on Old College Sunday. How well he looks, so smart and handsome marching to a military band. Later he shows them photographs of his exercise in Wales before going for lunch. The life clearly suits him. He plans to be home next weekend. Meanwhile, take care!
  • About last night: Elizabeth assures Roy that it wasn’t the cider; it was lovely and she is glad it happened. Of course it isn’t simple for Roy and though it felt right at the time, they both know that it can’t go anywhere. This is where it has to end. Tomorrow they will be back home and back to normal; he has Hayley and the girls and she is his boss; they have no other choice. Roy limply agrees.
  • Of course, Hayley wants to know all about the weekend. Roy’s account is economical with the truth about how well he carried out his wife’s instruction to ‘give Elizabeth a good time’. Hayley’s kisses confirm that she missed him and that she is pleased with the silver necklace he has bought for her. He declares that it is good to be back.
