Radio Times: Lynda has to explain herself, and Harrison is in the doghouse.

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Shula rushes in to inform Alistair that an important horsewoman with a stud farm did not get the cancellation notice for the open day. She is very angry and is insisting on seeing Alistair in person.
  • Lynda receives a speeding notice from the Borsetshire Constabulary. Lynda has been observed going through Darrington at 38 mph. The letter is a warning but there is a threat to pass on Lynda’s details to the Ambridge policing team. Richard is embarrassed but Lynda declares she did this on purpose. She wanted to prove a point; there was no one obviously on speeding duty. They were using covert methods which is a breach of protocols.
  • Emma complains to Fallon that none of Ed’s lambs are champions of the breed. Emma and Ed thought a champion lamb would make their fortune. Fallon points out the obvious that it takes many years to build up a champion herd. Emma is very down.
  • Alistair seems to have calmed the horsewoman but there are consequences. She has complete faith in Anisha but wants Alistair to ‘audition’ as if he were Anisha’s assistant. He and Shula discuss the effects of Brexit on exporting animals. Later, Alistair is shattered after his afternoon at the stud farm. The owner still won’t commit. Alistair is going to miss practice tonight because he needs a few large drinks.
  • Robert has lunch at the café and astonishes Emma when he notes that he and Lynda enjoyed their mother/daughter weekend. Emma is disgusted when she hears that Robert cooked eggs benedict. Emma whinges further about not being able to provide her kids with birthday parties or impressive gifts.
  • Lynda confronts Harrison with her traffic watch letter. She wants Harrison to confront the Darrington traffic control with the apparent breach of protocols; she also demands that Harrison make them share the equipment with Ambridge. Harrison is rattled further as Lynda imperiously announces that he shouldn’t expect any women to turn up to cricket practice. He is astonished and Robert explains the meeting and the women’s boycott. Fallon hears and jumps on Harrison as soon as the cricket team enters The Bull. Harrison is going to have to do some serious grovelling if he wants any women on the team. Overhearing the row, Alistair notes that the government might think it has a job on its hands with Brexit but that is nothing compared to Harrison’s challenges with the Ambridge cricket team.
