Harrison’s parents agree to lend him and Fallon the money for the deposit. Matt tells Lilian he promises he will be out of her hair in weeks.

Radio Times: Fallon is driven to distraction

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Fallon is rubbing it into Emma that she is buying to decorate her new home. But Emma is hopeful that she and Ed might get a shared ownership property in the new development. It’s shocking that local people can’t buy. Fallon is sad to be leaving Ambridge though – the garden in the new place doesn’t match Woodbine.
  • Harrison is getting teased about arresting Jill and is rather fed up with it. Jolene is having to play in the cricket to make up the numbers. He is also worried about the human fruit machine at the fete. Fallon suggests he asks Alice. She seems to get things done.
  • Susan is nagging at Emma to find out what is going on with Oliver. Emma doesn’t know, that is why she is so interested in the affordable housing. Susan suggests they won’t have a chance – it will go to people from outside the village. Lilian drops into the shop and Emma asks her about the housing. Lilian is annoyed that Susan is suggesting it will go to “riff raff”.
  • When Lilian leaves the shop she bumps into Matt but drives off before he can speak to her. Later, Matt turns up at the Dower House. He is chuffed that she said she still cared about him but she doesn’t need to avoid him. He’s going away for a couple of weeks and then will be out of her hair altogether soon. He isn’t playing games. He knows she’s chosen Justin so he’ll back off. He promises.
  • Harrison is shocked. His parents have offered to lend them the deposit to help them buy Woodbine. They’d have to extend the mortgage on their own house. Initially Fallon says they can’t do that. And they’ve had their offer accepted on the Borchester house. They don’t know what to do. Later on, Harrison calls and says he can’t concentrate. He wants to accept his parents’ offer and Fallon agrees.
  • Lynda is whining on about the new development. It will bury beautiful land under concrete. Emma says people need homes but Lynda wants the project thrown out. The rest of the members are late for the fete committee meeting. They seem to have too many offers of help. But Fallon’s mind is clearly elsewhere. She does manage to say that the PA is broken so Susan suggests a town crier instead.
