Hayley speculates about a woman in Mike’s life.
Radio Times: Hayley sees a spring in Mike’s step.
Characters: Caroline, Hayley, Lilian, Lynda, Mike, Oliver, Roy- Mike could get used to this! Roy and Hayley both have the day off so they all have time for a leisurely breakfast. Roy and Hayley are house hunting so would like Mike to collect Phoebe from the bus – but it’s tricky – he’s got something on – and tomorrow. Hayley things this is odd. Also, Mike has been out a lot lately – and Eddie mentioned him having a spring in his step. Is he seeing someone?
- Lilian is having a massage at Grey Gables but first must endure Lynda’s latest photos of Salieri. Caroline has seen enough already.
- Oliver is pleased with the latest cheese-making. Mike can hardly wait to sample it – but wait he must. Oliver has plans to go to the Royal with leaflets; there will be no product yet. Mike points out that he will need a name for the cheese.
- House hunting has not gone well; the object of their attention was a dump – and only a two-bedroomed dump at that. Hayley still hopes to need a third. If they need IVF, is Mike still up for paying? Perhaps he has other outlets for his money. Roy cannot believe that his father is moving on after only 18 months.
- Lilian is revitalised, with energy enough for the rest of the day – though she is not letting on what is in store for the rest of the day. A dinner-dance at Grey Gables could not be better timed; she will not need to organise a 60th birthday party, so she reserves two tables. Oliver has the idea to run a “name that cheese” competition on the village website, though Lynda warns against time-wasters. Lilian deftly lands Oliver with the delight of looking at photos of Salieri, while she herself makes a quick exit.
