Hazel shows her colours; she is out for every penny she can get.

Radio Times: Henry surprises everyone and Hazel issues a warning.

  • To Hazel’s intense irritation (it doesn’t take much) Peggy is a bit late for their meeting with Jack’s solicitor; the conventional niceties of enquiring after Peggy’s health, Jennifer’s health, the funeral etc. send her apoplectic. She is there to find out how much money daddy was good for – nothing more and nothing less. A real charmer is Hazel. Toby thought Hazel would be pleased with her inheritance. No! She was expecting more. Is there anything stashed away in off-shore accounts? She wonders if she should get her own lawyer to look at the affairs – someone she can trust!
  • Emma wants to sort out George’s issues but Susan is dismissive of them; anyway she is full of her own good news. First there is a cheque for £500; Christopher will get the same but say nothing to anyone else; she and Neil will spend the rest on a holiday.
  • Before she sweeps out of Ambridge, Hazel calls in at the shop, not to buy anything but to do some research; she suspects that the community shop is rented out at low rent. Bumping into Peggy on the way out, she issues a warning that she expects all the loose ends to be tied up quickly – no dragging of feet – or else!
  • What did he say? Pat is stunned to hear Henry talk about going to “daddy’s house”. When Helen and Henry return from Rob’s, Pat makes her views very clear: as his mother, Helen shouldn’t expose Henry to bonding with a father figure who might disappear out of his life. Helen retaliates by expressing disappointment that her parents are not supporting her as she takes this big step. What sort of a mother does that make Pat?
