  • The break-in at Glebe Cottage has brought a very nice young policeman and sundry members of the Archer clan. The thief stole photos of Phil and Jill, of sentimental value only; even the silver frames won’t be worth much. She thought she was safe in the heart of the village.
  • Talk about giving a dog a bad name! Visiting Grange Farm, Emma wonders if Darrell was Jill’s burglar. Ed quickly dismisses that: he was working on the trailer at The Stables and then had tea at Keeper’s Cottage. George spots an unfamiliar object and is told that it is poison, for the rats.
  • Still reeling from the cancellation of the Steam Fair, Elizabeth needs a plan. Roy has one – a music festival; not exactly Glastonbury at Lower Loxley but maybe with a couple of leading acts like Mumford & Sons. Elizabeth will think about it.
  • Ed is puzzled by Susan’s improved mood – singing, dancing and furtively surfing on the laptop. He is enjoying a game with Holly when George announces that Ed can’t play with her. The reason, he explains when Ed has gone, is that Ed wants to poison her. He hates dogs; he killed Baz and now he wants to kill Holly.
  • Sensing Jill’s anxiety, the nice policeman pays a return visit, though he has nothing definite to report yet but there have been a few similar cases in the Hollerton area. He assures her she has no need to worry about the burglar coming back. Nevertheless, Jill locks up with a big sigh.
  • Emma reports to Ed what George said. Ed is convinced that George wouldn’t get such ideas all by himself; this is down to Will.
