Radio Times: Darrell’s looking for work, and Vicky’s looking forward to Bethany’s christening.
Characters: Clarrie, Darrell, Helen, Jill, Mike, Rob, Vicky- Darrell finishes clearing his stuff from 3 The Green and meets Clarrie. He asks if she knows of any work going; Clarrie thinks there is a general shortage of work, but agrees to pass on anything she hears.
- Rob accompanies Helen and Henry to the Food Fair, and wins Helen’s heart by taking Henry off to play while Helen goes to a cookery demonstration. Helen’s flirtatious technique is again exercised as she asks Rob what he was like as a child.
- Vicky calls at the shop and shows Jill the Christening gown she has bought for Bethany. Jill wonders whether it will fit; the sleeves look rather tight. Immediately Vicky announces that Mike will have to take her to Borchester to buy another.
- Mike nobly runs Vicky into Borchester, though she says they may need to go to Felpersham. On the way they pick up Darrell, who is hitching into Borchester where he will sleep on a mate’s floor until he can find accommodation and work.
- Jill tells Clarrie about some of the flower festival entries, though she fails to mention the one which Clarrie really wants to know about. Helen comes in the shop and comments that Rob is far nicer than most of the people who work for Brian. Can Helen be smitten with Ambridge’s mysterious male?
- Vicky throws a minor tantrum when she finds that the gown she wanted is sold out, but eventually Mike finds a dress with matching bloomers, mob cap and shoes. Vicky loves it. Well, nothing is too good for Mike’s little Bethany.
