Helen makes a friend inside and Jennifer finds out the road decision is imminent.

• Helen calls Anna who has left a message. Helen is worried that Jack isn’t getting enough milk and she pours out other worries but Anna has to cut her off. They have limited time and they must discuss the case.
• Jenny is in the kitchen when Lilian comes in. Jenny wants to know all about Lilian’s weekend away but she clearly doesn’t know who accompanied Lilian.
• Anna has called to inform Helen that Rob has filed a form to obtain custody of Jack. It is entwined with the custody hearing of Henry. Helen is determined that Rob will not come anywhere near the baby but Anna cautions that if Helen agrees to visitation, it will show that Helen is reasonable and not vindictive. Helen categorically refuses but Anna counsels that she should consider it. Anna also notifies Helen that she must appear before the judge but it will be by a two-way video link; Rob will not be able to speak to her. Helen rings off in tears and Jack is crying. Another inmate, Kaz, tells her the baby just needs changing and she kindly assists Helen and helps to calm both mother and baby.
• Jenny is fussing over the picnic for the Royal Birthday and Kate is always a problem when it comes to food. Kate also has ‘odd’ views on the royal family. Lilian tries to avoid answering specific questions about the weekend without telling untruths. More discussion on the Millennium Wood.
• Helen’s new friend tells her about life on remand and asks about Helen’s other son. They begin to discuss their situations and find they have much in common, although Kaz calls Helen posh and asks laughingly if she comes from Downton Abbey. The fathers of their older children are not on the scene and both women are desperate to protect their children from their present partners.
• Lilian asks about Phoebe’s hard work schedule. Jenny notes that she must also keep Kate away from Phoebe because Kate keeps trying to distract her. There is a celebration for young people soon and Jennifer has talked Phoebe into taking a break and having some fun. But Jenny is worried that Kate will also insist on attending. In order to avoid Jennifer’s direct questioning about the weekend, Lilian decides to distract Jenny by announcing the news about the new road. Brookfield is to be cut in half; David and Ruth will be devastated.
