Helen reveals to Kirsty that she knows about the baby.
Radio Times: Helen picks her moment, and Freddie wants to keep a low profile.
Characters: Freddie, Helen, Johnny, Kirsty, Lily, Roy- Lunch at Grey Gables to celebrate better New Year for both, that’s Helen’s treat for Kirsty. They also catch up on each other’s news. For Helen the good news is that Rob is not contesting the divorce and she does not need to see him. Just as Helen is steering the conversation round to Kirsty, Roy interrupts.
- Freddie has screwed up again; as he tells Johnny, he has only achieved a D in his Maths; he needs a C. Johnny still feels that Tom is in a weird mood; he reckons that Roy knows why. Lily appears and gives her brother a hard time over breaking the news to mum. Apparently Elizabeth is going to be away for a couple of days next week, so Lily decides they should have a party.
- It’s time for Kirsty to get back to work and still she hasn’t broached the subject of her pregnancy, so Helen does. Kirsty reacts badly; she just wants to be left on her own; she rushes away.
- Kirsty asks Roy to cover for her while she gets herself together. She tells him why she is upset. Roy thinks that might not be such a bad thing; Helen is her friend. Initially it was Kirsty’s secret and it’s no-one else’s business. Roy tries to convince her that it cannot be like that: it’s not just her and the baby and it never will be.
