Rob’s past misdemeanour comes back to haunt him. It’s not over for Lilian and Justin.

Radio Times: Rob has a visitor, and Lilian is ready to party.

  • It’s Friday the thirteenth; could it be unlucky for someone? Lilian is busy helping Jenny prepare canapés for the Elliotts, coming to celebrate the land deal. Miranda has reduced Lilian’s professional role to a minimum but hardest to take was Justin agreeing with her. Lilian has heard nothing from him for days.
  • On his way out of the office, Rob encounters Justin looking for the confidential report he asked for about alternative contractors for the Estate. Rob blusters but has to admit he has barely started. Justin emphasises the urgency and expects something in an hour or so. Great!
  • When Rob finally gets home he has a visitor waiting outside, Stefan. Rob never expected to see him again, as he had made clear when he paid him to disappear. Things change; Stefan fancies catching up and he convinces Rob that what he has to say is best not discussed in the street.
  • The party gets off with some remarks about how good it is for couples to do things together. Jenny seeks Miranda’s advice on hanging some newly purchased water colours in the dining room – and Brian must come too! That leaves Lilian and Justin alone; he apologises profusely, declares their affair very much ongoing and seals it with a kiss.
  • Over a drink, grudgingly-purchased by Rob, Stefan declares that he is in need of a bit of start-up money. Rob lies that he is out of work. Stefan feels that there are several people who would be interested in what he saw during the flood. He is not unreasonable; he doesn’t expect the money tonight, rather in a few days – but he does want the money. Now we know whose unlucky day it is and it couldn’t happen to a nicer fellow.
