  • As George is home from school, Emma is taking both children to the playground with Helen and Henry, and is preparing food to take with them. Emma becomes defensive when Ed comments on her unlikely friendship with Helen, and seems uncomfortable with the idea of Helen being around his children.
  • Fresh from her wonderful Valentine’s day with Matt and declaration of mutual love, Lilian meets Paul in a hotel at Fawcett Magna. She appears nervous, and declines his offer of champagne and a seafood lunch in his room. Instead they go for a stroll.
  • As Henry is proving a handful, Helen suggests coffee at The Bull, to Emma’s delight. As they enjoy it, Emma asks Helen if Valentine’s day was difficult for her. Helen admits that sometimes she wonders what a more conventional situation would be like. Emma says how much she admires Helen.
  • Jazzer has come up with another name for the shearing team, but Ed thinks the whole idea is off. He has found out how much the kit would be, not to speak of a vehicle. Jazzer is more upbeat and will give the matter some thought. Meanwhile he is off to Fawcett Magna to deliver some cream which he forgot when doing his round.
  • Still on edge, Lilian says she would be happy with a sandwich in the bar instead of going to Paul’s room. Then to her dismay, she sees Jazzer. Instantly Paul puts on a Scottish accent, introduces himself as Dougal McHenry, an Estate Agent, and chats to Jazzer about Scotland. His act lacks conviction, but fortunately Jazzer is in a rush to get home, so barely listens. Lilian is much amused and decides that champagne and rather more in Paul’s room might be just the thing. Afterwards, Paul gives Lilian a present; a key, to symbolise the real one he will give her when he finds a love-nest for them both in Borchester. Lilian is completely won over.
