Characters: Adam, David, Ian, Mike, Pip, Sid- David’s very busy with a difficult calving imminent. Adam calls to firm up arrangements for their meeting with Ian, to discuss plans for their Meet the Farmer – Cook the Dish demonstration, which David has forgotten. They’re interrupted by a call from Pip, who has missed the bus home from college and wants David to pick her up. Pip is out of luck; her dad is too busy and she’ll have to wait for the next bus.
- Pip is miffed at her dad’s lack of interest, but spots Ian and gets a lift to Ambridge. He asks why she doesn’t follow Daniel’s example and learn to drive on the farm.
- Wayne’s enjoying his job in the kitchen at the Bull, especially Freda’s pastries. Sid is less enthusiastic; he can’t wait for Wayne to go. Mike announces that they are a player short for the darts match; Roy has to work. But the day is saved when Wayne agrees to make up the shortfall.
- David meets Ian and Adam at the Bull, and takes Ian to task for giving Pip ideas about driving lessons. She wants to start tomorrow. But they sort out their demonstration, to their mutual satisfaction.
- Wayne says he’s rusty as a darts player, but still manages to secure a victory for the Bull. The other players are delighted; only Sid is left to gripe and grouse.
