  • Adam shows Ian how the soil has eroded from the pictures taken by Charlie’s drone. Ian asks about Charlie, noting that he and Adam seemed to be very chummy during lunch at Grey Gables the other day. Adam announces abruptly that he must leave to meet David to walk the arable; Ian offers to go with him since it is such a nice day.
  • Shula stops by on her horse to chat with David and Ruth. They catch up on news about Daniel and Ruth’s mother. Ian spots that David’s wheat looks much healthier than BL’s after the flood. Adam is very much concerned about the quality of the soil.
  • Alistair and Shula talk about the photographs from Daniel’s ceremony. Alistair notes he took some unguarded snaps with his phone of Daniel and Shula talking of the future. Shula is struggling to let Daniel go onto his separate path.
  • David observes that his soil is dark and crumbly because of rotation; it is an old method that his grandfather used on this farm. Adam bemoans the fact that BL and Charlie don’t understand this. Ian says he is confused about Adam’s attitude toward Charlie. Is he the enemy or the friend? Is Ian beginning to sense the attraction between Adam and Charlie?
  • Shula and Alistair go through the photos of Daniel. Alistair begs off before they finish because he is looking to take an office in Penny Hassett and needs to work on the options. Shula wants to plan a dinner tomorrow with just the two of them; Alistair seems reluctant but he agrees that new beginnings refer to Shula as well as Daniel.
