It turns out Matt is one of the Trustees for the Dower House and Matt also learns that Anisha doesn’t know about Alistair’s gambling past.
Radio Times: Oliver decides it is time to move on
Characters: Alistair, Justin, Lilian, Matt, Oliver, Shula- Lilian gets a call from Matt. He says he’s had a call from the Trustee. He’s surprised to hear that she wants to sell the house to Justin. And it turns out that Matt is one of the Trustees. Maybe he and Justin should have a chat.
- Alistair is trying to deal with the business in Anisha’s absence and manages to smash some crockery when Oliver interrupts. Alistair tries to stress that Oliver isn’t in the way but he clearly sounds frustrated and and annoyed.
- Lilian tries to explain the situation to Justin. He is furious. That’s it. They will have to find somewhere else to live. He refuses to live in the shadow of that man. Lilian tries to persuade him at least to talk to Matt.
- Shula finds Oliver packing. He is going to stay at Grey Gables. Kathy needs help and he is obviously putting a strain on Alistair and Shula. Shula tries to stress it isn’t anything to do with him – it’s purely work and she really wants him to change his mind.
- Matt admits that the Trust is a bit unorthodox but that is where it is. Matt insists he isn’t standing in the way. If Lilian wants the property sold it will be sold. But the Trust has to decide on the terms of sale. If Justin buys it, the money will go into the Trust to benefit Lilian and he would then resign his position as Trustee. Justin has to take a call and Matt says he really does want to make things easier for her and harmony will be restored. Later when Lilian talks to Justin, she tries to persuade him that the reason Matt seems to be being reasonable is that Justin has him running scared. Maybe he will be gone soon Justin isn’t sure but he does reassure her that he still loves her and still wants to marry her – more than ever. Which is just as well as Lower Loxley has dates available in December.
- Shula is furious with Alistair. What on earth did he say to Oliver to make him want to leave. Shula blames him for the atmosphere. Alistair asks if he can be blamed. With Matt around, he is bound to have troubles. Shula reminds him that Oliver’s wife has just died. How can his issues with Matt compare. He needs to take a long hard look at himself. But despite this, when Matt turns up at The Stables he lets it be known that Anisha doesn’t know about the gambling or about his partner dealing in ketamine. He wonders what she would think if Anisha found out.
