Characters: Brian, Eddie, Jennifer, Joe, Lilian, Matt

• Matt’s temper is not improved when he can’t find any coffee and Lilian is indulging in a long girly chat on the phone. Afterwards, Lilian endeavours to make her peace with Matt by bringing coffee. She says the call was important because her friend Veronica had been lunching with Chalkie’s wife, and might have some useful information. But she didn’t, and a furious Matt tells Lilian he’s off to a meeting and can’t say when he’ll be back.
• Joe interrupts Jennifer’s morning by wanting to ask about local history. Jennifer claims she’s very busy, but Brian makes it very clear that she’s not, so Jennifer is forced to invite Joe in.
• Jennifer shows Joe an old map, which marks an ancient settlement. He wants to take it home, but Jennifer won’t let him. She’s pleased when Brian arrives, asking about free dates on the Aldridge calendar, and even the insensitive Joe feels the need to leave.
• Brian’s worried about BL’s borrowings, and thinks they should sell land. He wants Debbie to come and speak to the board. Jennifer is delighted, and wants Brian to ring Debbie straight away. He does, and tells Jennifer that Debbie will come, and is bringing Marshall with her. Jennifer’s gushing knows no bounds.
• A delighted Joe tells Eddie he knows where they may well find buried treasure – Grange Farm. The Sterlings are going away, and Ed has been ploughing for fodder crops, so they have the perfect opportunity to do some serious metal detecting.
• A worried Lilian is relieved when Matt returns at last. She tries to smother him with loving care – but all Matt wants is space.
