• Debbie won’t be home for Christmas: she will be away with Marshall in The Maldives. Jennifer would like to meet him but resists Debbie’s invitation because of commitments at home.
• Neil finds Tom in reflective mood and is prepared to listen sympathetically about having to let Gary go. He even suggests helping Tom tomorrow.
• Tony and Lilian are a bit surprised at the formality and completeness of Jennifer’s proposed care rota for helping mum. Tomorrow they will try to ring Maria but it’s a long shot. Tony has a long list of times he cannot do and they both want to cut down their help to the essentials; mum might actually appreciate being on her own with Jack some of the time, as long as someone is “on call”. Lilian thinks Jennifer’s guilt is blinding her to what their mum actually needs; Adam recruits her to convince Jennifer that she should go to Hungary before Christmas.
