  • Ruth is doing a massive shop in the village. Jill is keen to help. Brookfield is getting ready for lambing. And Josh says he has a major project so he can’t help. Jill offers to come round to Brookfield to cook a meal but Ruth says no. Jim says he has encouraged Jazzer to get involved in the Passion Play since his social life isn’t going too well. And the music festival with pop up restaurants at Lower Loxley is also going to make things busy.
  • Susan is finding packing a trouble and is trying to pack far too much. And she is feeling guilty about all the lies she is telling. Emma tells her it is better than having to give Gary a cut and have him spend all the money on Star Trek wallpaper.
  • Ruth tells David how exhausted his Mum looks and David says he’s noticed too. It shows what a shock the burglary was for her. But while they are talking, Ruth manages to burn another dinner.
  • Jill tells Jim she has her appointment for her cataract operation in about 6 weeks. Jim tells her it will be fine but she says she is finding everything daunting at the moment. Jim’s recital of a rather depressing poem appears to cheer her briefly. But only until she lets herself into the cottage.
  • Then at about 1.00 in the morning, Ruth takes a panicked call from Jill saying she thinks she has heard a person downstairs. Ruth and David rush over and determined to take her back to Brookfield but she won’t hear of it. Once David has said the property is secure she wants to stay – she can’t let the criminals win. Jill reminds David about how stubborn he was over the children when the gang were attacking him and he reluctantly agrees.
