Joe has heard from Bert that Susan is a “millionaire”. Tony has a plan to bring cows back to Bridge Farm.

Radio Times: The Ambridge rumour mill gets to work. Meanwhile, Tony has a brainwave.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Pat finds Tony moaning in the former cow shed saying how much he missed them. Pat tells him they made the right decision but he is having nothing of it. Peggy approves of Tom is running the farm the way he is and that’s why she sees Tony as a failure. He and Pat had thought their vision was the right way to go but they haven’t convinced Tom of that. After a lot of Pat making an impossible attempt at cheering him off he tells her to go off to see Kathy, he’s thinking about asking David to go for a pint at The Bull.
  • Jolene isn’t impressed that Kenton’s best idea for Valentine’s Day is the same hearts and flowers that Sid always used to do. She says she is going to think of something different.
  • Joe is telling everyone who will listen that Bert Horrobin was splashing the cash around in The Bull because he’d heard about Susan’s lottery win. Joe doesn’t know how much she has won because Bert was sworn to secrecy. But Joe thinks there might be 6 zeroes involved.
  • David tells Tony that Jill is still a bit worried about being in Glebe Cottage but she won’t move. David rather tactlessly remarks that it is that generation – they just keep battling on.
  • Jolene announces that her idea for Valentine’s Day might not be to attract smug marrieds, but to look more at people like Jazzer who hate the whole thing. She needs to let the idea marinade a bit.
  • Tony tells David that he has an idea about buying some stall cattle if the beef price holds up. David thinks that is good as a short term investment but then Tony says he might be thinking about suckler cows which would be a longer term commitment. Yeah, right, like Tom is going to think that is a good idea……
