Jill is determined that the children should be at the funeral.

Radio Times: There is much concern about the children, and when Alan intervenes, it remains to be seen whether his actions will make a difference.

• David the martyr is still feeling guilty for leaving Ruth on the farm but she does have help from Bert, Eddie, and Brian. He’s also worrying about what to say to Elizabeth about the children not going to the funeral.
• Jill feels extremely strongly that the children should be there. Elizabeth is wrong. They should all be saying goodbye to Nigel together. Maybe David or Alan will convince her. Alan took Amy to her mother’s funeral when she was 6. Whatever Elizabeth says, Jill is absolutely certain she must change her mind.
• Elizabeth is adamant however that she knows her children best. She’s talked to them about it. Freddie just went silent and Lily changed the subject. She is sure they shouldn’t be there. The details are getting sorted out though. Alan will give the eulogy and Shula will speak (as David doesn’t think he can) and Elizabeth will try to say a few words herself. She wants the harpist from their wedding anniversary to play as well.
