Jill remains intransigent. Rob’s visit has obviously made Helen very jumpy.

Radio Times: Ruth clashes with Jill, and it is feeling festive in the Tearoom.

  • Ruth is sulking over the tree and she doesn’t know why she is bothering. The boys aren’t interested and Pip has her own and won’t be there. Jill disapproves of the tree without tinsel. She also tries to claim that Alan’s sermon was supporting her view of Toby. As Jill interferes more, Ruth leaves.
  • Christmas in the tea room goes well but Helen is clearly anxious that Rob might turn up. Emma tells Helen she is broke so no pantomime. At least they’ve got a second hand bike for George.
  • David challenges Pip over the rota for Christmas. Pip says she’ll do whatever needs doing. Next he goes on at her about what she will do about the profit from the beef herd. Pip makes an excuse to leave.
  • Emma and Ruth try to convince it is normal for Henry to want to make a Christmas card for Rob. It will take a while for him to adjust. He just needs to feel safe and loved. As long as the boys are happy nothing else matters. Things may not be perfect but she needs to put the last year behind her.
  • Pip bumps into Ruth shopping. She admits she won’t be having sprouts. Ruth says they shouldn’t stick to things just because they are tradition but she still hopes Pip will drop by. Pip says there is no chance while Jill was there.
  • Ruth finally lets rip at Jill. She must despise him or she wouldn’t go on about it. Jill still won’t say what is wrong. Pip has made her bed and will have to lie in it.
