Jim’s article about Brian hits the streets and, with a little persuasion, pleases everybody.

Radio Times: Nic has a good idea and Glen Whitehouse has an answer for everything.

  • It’s out today! Jennifer has been to the shop early to pick up a copy of Borchester Life because it has Jim’s article about Brian, or the “Squire of Ambridge” as the headline calls him. Brian isn’t very impressed with the picture, taken from a low viewpoint and portraying him as looking down his nose at the reader. As for the text – outrageous!
  • In The Bull, Nic and Joe are also discussing the article, which they think portrays him as every bit as arrogant as he is. Brian’s claim that the 1500 inmates of the new mega dairy unit will be the most pampered cows in the county, provided with everything they need, is countered by the observation that they apparently don’t need sunshine or grass. All in all, Joe thinks the prof. has done a cracking job.
  • Brian doesn’t; he hot-foots it to confront the Borchester Life editor, Glen Whitehouse, who deftly counters all of Brian’s objections. He thinks Brian was an ideal interviewee, giving a robust defence to Jim’s robust challenges. He suggests that Brian shouldn’t be unhappy about the article – he comes over really well.
  • Glen’s charm seems to have worked because later Joe encounters Jennifer leaving the shop with an armful of copies – for the family; they are very proud of it. “If you say so, missus” chuckles Joe.
