Jenny is delivering a gift for Pat and Tony in time for their anniversary tomorrow. Talk turns to how upset Peggy is about Brian’s disagreement with Brian. As Jennifer returns to the car and heads for lunch at Grey Gables, she comments to Peggy just how young Helen is looking recently.
- At Grey Gables, Brian reassures Justin that a slight delay in his offer for the land should not be taken as a cooling of interest. Jenny and Peggy arrive. Jennifer comments on Demara’s sponsorship of the student fashion event at Borchester College. Justin puts it down to Lilian’s hard work. Peggy is delighted that he’s happy with her daughter’s performance. Brian engages in a diversionary coughing fit. Justin leaves, promising to join them for coffee. Peggy again expresses her pleasure with Lilian’s activities. Yet more coughing from Brian.
- Johnny calls in at the shop so that Helen can go for lunch. She spots that he’s growing a beard… it suits him. He’s quietly pleased. At Grey Gables, Peggy expresses her concern about the land deal. It seems to carry risk, especially to the family as a whole. They’re joined for coffee by Justin. Peggy, despite attempts at distraction by her daughter, goes on in the same vein. Justin takes the broad hint. If his offer is causing family disharmony, he can always call Rodways and sell it in the usual manner. Oops Peggy!
- Helen returns to the shop to find Henry “helping” Johnny to net carrots while playing on his scooter. Johnny confides that he’s been asked by Lily Pargetter to be a model in the forthcoming fashion show. More to the point, a girl called Amber has encouraged him to take the role and he thinks she’s wonderful. Helen’s sworn to secrecy, especially with regard to Tom, Jazzer and Tony.
