  • Jolene wants Kenton to get to know Wayne even though Kenton is grumpy and doesn’t see the need. Jolene points out that even though the road through Brookfield Farm will create problems for David and Ruth, it will bring much more traffic past The Bull and is bound to be a windfall for them. Fallon comes in with a sore head; she attended the barbeque for the new pickers last night. Jolene confides to Fallon that the invented girlfriend of Wayne has made problems.
  • Ruth and David are worried about the road announcement. There are so many unknowns such as when to build a bridge for the herd and if they will need to take Hollowtree back from the Fairbrothers.
  • Fallon came in to discuss cakes with Wayne only to find that Kenton and Wayne are getting on. Jolene thinks her new plan has worked a treat.
  • Bert drops in to see if there is any news on the council’s announcement. Jill says not yet although Ruth is trying online to see if there is any news. Bert is worried about how the road will affect his garden and bungalow. David leaves to get a bit of fresh air. Nerves are frayed all around. Jill announces that Anna Tregorran will be coming for a meal with Carol. David bursts in and tells Ruth to check the council’s website. The council is going with Route C!
  • Kenton says he and Jolene should book a table for the food awards. Perhaps invite Wayne as well, notes Kenton, along with Beverley. They should get to know her as well. Oh, yes, answers Jolene weakly. Bert bursts in with the marvellous news. There should be one hell of a party in The Bull tonight.
  • Later it seems as if the whole village is celebrating at The Bull. Bert can live out his days in peace now. Kenton notes that this is the best night they’ve had in years. Jill goes looking for David and finds him quietly weeping on his own. After all they have been through Brookfield is saved for the kids. David just wishes he could tell his dad that all is safe. Jill is certain that he knows. She asks David to come back and propose a toast. David announces to the crowd that he came close to abandoning this beautiful village but after two years of uncertainty, all is over. Long live Ambridge!
