Radio Times: Helen puts her foot in it, and Josh puts his best foot forward.
Characters: Helen, Josh, Pip, Rob, Toby, Ursula- Helen has misplaced her maternity notes, which Ursula has tidied away. Helen objects to Ursula making toad in the hole with beef dripping, as she’d prefer it made with olive oil – far healthier. Ursula calls on Rob to settle the argument, who comes down on his mother’s side. Helen is trusted to look after the oven timings while Ursula pops out for vegetables.
- Pip ticks off Josh over his driving – it’s the welfare of the cows she’s concerned for. Josh brags over his egg enterprise with Rex and Toby and some friendly sibling rivalry ensues. When Josh drives a hard bargain, Pip intervenes to prevent Toby from being taken advantage of, but Toby is quite satisfied with the deal and understands that Josh is protecting his interests and has the makings of an excellent business man.
- Rob is making discreet telephone enquiries over a school boarding place for Henry. When Helen asks who he was speaking to, Rob is saved by the smoke alarm. Helen is adamant she set the oven timer exactly as instructed by Ursula, so has someone tampered with it? Dinner is ruined; Helen heaps guilt onto herself and then overhears a conversation between Rob and Ursula, who implies that sabotage of the food was deliberate on Helen’s part. She also overhears a conversation about the school. Helen pleads with Rob to convince his mother that she had no intention to ruin the food. When she demands an explanation about the telephone call to the school, Rob tells her that he was on the phone to Henry’s school over the current bullying problem.
